Free pre-kindergarten program available

Lincoln Learning Center, a nationally accredited child care and education program in North Phoenix, is offering a free pre-kindergarten program to community children whose family income is less than 200 percent of federal poverty guidelines.

The pre-kindergarten program is aimed at ensuring that every child in the community can have access to quality early childhood experiences and acquire the skills needed for a successful transition into kindergarten.

The scholarship allows Lincoln Learning Center to serve children of families who meet specific income and age requirements.

The program includes a free kindergarten readiness program from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily with breakfast and lunch, a yoga program, small classroom sizes and state-certified teachers with a background in early childhood education. Before- and after-care (before 8 a.m. and after 2 p.m.) is available between 5:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. for a minimal charge.

Requirements include:

  • The child must be a US citizen or have proof of legal residency.
  • Family must show proof of income if working.
  • Family must be at or below 200 percent poverty level.
  • Child must be 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2017.
