Corn, melons, cucumbers and beans are sprouting at Sunnyslope Manor Senior Apartments thanks to a partnership between Desert Mission Food Bank and Maricopa County Office of Nutrition and Physical Activity. Desert Mission and the county are providing garden and nutrition education to help jumpstart their community garden.
You can benefit from these services and start your own garden. Attend a free, monthly gardening class, the first Wednesday of each month from 9 to 11 a.m., at Desert Mission Food Bank.
To learn about healthy eating, attend the Ask an Expert Series: Seasonal Eating for your Health, 3:30 – 4:30p.m., April 8, at the Food Bank.
